Why Cybersecurity?

Why Cybersecurity?

CompTIA writes in its blog post that cybersecurity jobs will increase exponentially. CyberCrime Magazine reinforces this by stating that there will be 3.5 million unfilled cybersecurity jobs worldwide by 2025, moving the unemployment rate to 0%. Indeed, the numbers of data breaches have increased dramatically in recent years, confirming the progosity of job needs.

According to StepStone, the average starting salary of a cybersecurity analyst is between EUR 42,000 and EUR 66,000, rounded, which puts the median value at EUR 54,000.

The result of the Bitkom study establishes that there is a shortage of over 137,000 IT specialists in Germany alone. The shortage includes IT security experts in large numbers. StepStone alone suggests over 40,000 results under IT security.

You don't need an IT background to become a Cybersecurity Analyst. Many skills are transferable - you just need to be willing to learn.

Why exactly are companies looking for you?

Here are some reasons why you're in demand as a future cybersecurity subject matter expert:

Protecting against cyberattacks:

With the increasing number of cyberattacks on businesses and organizations, it is important for companies to take proactive protective measures. A cybersecurity analyst and penetration tester can help identify security gaps, address vulnerabilities and protect the organization against cyberattacks.

Protecting confidential data:

An IT security professional can help protect confidential information by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to it. Confidentiality in particular plays an important role here.

Compliance with regulations and standards:

There are a variety of cybersecurity regulations and standards that companies must comply with. A cybersecurity professional can help understand these regulations and ensure that the company meets compliance requirements.

Security incident detection and response:

An incident responder can help identify security incidents early and respond appropriately to minimize the impact on the business.

Threat identification and assessment:

An IT security analyst can identify and assess threats to protect the organization against potential future threats.
